INFORMATION
Concept
#Smartists: An exhibition based on the South African National Curriculum of Visual Arts for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) phase . The Polokwane Art Museum in partnership with the department of Visual Arts, Art History and Musicology at the University of South Africa (Unisa) present the annual #SmARTISTS exhibition. The exhibition provides a special platform for teachers and learners to interact with artworks by some of the artists included in the list of TVET visual arts curriculum themes.
Some of the activities during the exhibition will include walkabouts aimed at providing in-depth discussions on national, continental and international issues relevant to the artworks selected from the Unisa permanent art and the Polokwane Art Museum collections. It will further provide a vibrant overview from the South African art history to contemporary art whilst also empowering and developing smart critical thinkers through visual interactions and experience.
